The main meals will consist of European dishes with authentic recipes from the plantation era, South Indian cuisine popularized by the large estate labour force-first brought in to tend the tea gardens and typical hill country Sri Lankan, fare popular among the upcountry peasantry.
Maskeli Oya Family Park is conveniently located within some of the hill country's most picturesque and popular sights. Just thirty minutes drive to Adams Peak, the Park is just one and a half hours away from Nuwara-Eliya making it a pleasant day trip. Climbers could also access the peaks of Totapola and Kirigalpottha which are just an hour's drive.
One could take an hour's hike to Aberdeen Falls while Lakshapana Falls, Baker's fall, Devon Falls and Elgin Falls are just an hour's drive away. Some of the country's most picturesque and well known tea gardens and factories at Watawala and Norwood are just twenty minutes away.
"World's End" and the Horton Plains strict natural reserve are an hour and half drive and could be accessed through two very scenic routes. You could also take an hour's drive to Kithulgala for a day-out at white water rafting. Canoeing is allowed at most of the breath-taking lakes which are situated in close proximity.
You could just leave the busy world behind and walk down the many pathways and estate roads or just take a hike up one of the mountains. Bird-watchers would be the happiest at Family Park, with each morning greeting you with a multitude of bird calls echoing in the surrounding hills and going on into the early afternoon.
